Weekly organised D&D in Milton Keynes

MK Guild Player Rules

The MK Guild runs organised Dungeons & Dragons games using fifth edition rules from both the 2014 and 2024 versions, with a few local adjustments to keep weekly play fair, welcoming, and easy to join.

For new players

What to bring

You will need access to the D&D player rules, a character sheet, a logsheet, dice, and something for notes. The free basic rules on D&D Beyond are enough to start, and the 2024 Player's Handbook is recommended.

  • D&D player rules or D&D Beyond access
  • Character sheet and logsheet
  • Pen, pencil, paper, or notebook
  • Dice for play at the table

Quick summary

The rules in brief

1. Build a legal character

Characters start at level 1. Use standard array or 27 point cost for ability scores. Rolling stats is not used for Guild characters.

2. Choose the right rules version

2024 base classes use 2024 character creation. Pre-2024 base classes use the 2014 character creation rules and pre-2024 options.

3. Sign up before the session

Player spots are posted in the Discord event-signup channel at 10am on Saturday for Tuesday games and 10am on Sunday for Wednesday games.

4. Play in your tier

Adventures are grouped into four tiers so characters play with others at a similar level range.

5. Record rewards

Sessions can award renown, gold, milestones, and magic items. Keep your logsheet up to date after every adventure.

6. Respect the table

The Guild is built around inclusive, friendly play. Harassment, cheating, and behaviour that ruins other players' fun are not tolerated.
